FINAL DAYS TO SUBMIT APPLICATIONS FOR FY 2011 SAFER GRANTS.

You only have a few days left to submit an application for FY 2011 SAFER funding. To read the SAFER Quick Guide and start an e-Grant application, visit the SAFER Grants page on the AFG Website. All applications must be completed and submitted through the electronic e-Grant application system by Friday, February 24, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. EST.

Review your application for completeness before submitting. Make sure every question is answered; replace any temporary or "placeholder" text.

Last-Minute Questions or Problems?

If you have last-minute questions about applying for a SAFER grant, or are having technical problems with the electronic application, call the Help Desk at 1-866-274-0960 or send an e-mail to firegrants@dhs.gov. The Help Desk staff will be on hand to help applicants through the end of the application period. No confirmation e-mail received. If you have submitted your application but not yet received an e-mail confirmation in the grant Mail Center, contact the Help Desk at once for help, 1-866-274-0960. All applicants should receive an email confirmation to document their submissions. Computer or technical problems. Problems such as expired passwords, technical malfunctions, or loss of internet access, will not be accepted as excuses for late submissions unless you report the problem to the Help Desk before the application deadline. Formal submission required. Many applications appear to be nearly complete or are 100 percent complete but have not been submitted formally into the electronic e-Grant system. No application will be processed automatically or considered for funding unless the applicant properly submits the request and receives a subsequent e-mail confirmation.

ATTENTION ALL AWARDEES: AFG and Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) Grant Closeout Update

The FY 2009 and 2010 AFG and FP&S closeout modules are unavailable at this time due to technical issues. If you have received an award for these years you will be notified when the closeout module is online. Until then, this does not hinder a department's ability to submit an application for FY 2011 nor will it negatively affect the department's chances to receive an award. Once the module becomes available, all FY 2009 and 2010 grantees will be required to submit a closeout report. All other AFG and FP&S awardees should submit their grant closeout reports on schedule, that is, within 90 days of the end of the grant's period of performance.
